200th post

wow it took me 7 years to reach 200 posts. guess to reach the next 200 may take even more than 7 years since i do not post often nowadays.

recently watched a movie called the bucket list. not a new show but still enjoyable to watch nevertheless. basically it is a list of things that you want to do before you kick the bucket.

so, what is your bucket list? what's mine? think about it and write it down. we can start to do the items starting from now.

New Year 2014

First post of the new year 2014. When the clock strike 00:00, suddenly the quiet neighborhood become slightly nosier. There was sound from people cheering the incoming year but it was faraway noise that caught my attention. Ships are honing. Then, I suddenly remembered that yes, ship crew do horn to celebrate the arrival of a new year. Too bad I wasn't able to catch the scene while serving in the Navy but I heard of the stories before and experiences form friends who were fortunate enough to be on duty on new year eve.

Anyway, 2014 is going to be a good year. I just got the feeling and I feel hopeful at least as of now. Many people should have already set their new year resolutions and for me, I have them and I will post them up soon. Right now, I am thinking why do so many people make their resolutions but fail to achieve even partial of that goal?

Is it a case of over setting their goal such that it is unreachable or just unable to follow through the goal? Hmm... The same thing happen to me last year so why ar? Haha.

Work

After working for slightly more than a year, it is a good time for me to review the job itself. Do I see myself continuing for the next one year? Am I assigned with work that challenged me? And most importantly where can I go next?

To answer myself, I do not see myself working past 2014. Until recently, I am involved in projects, hiring of new colleagues and basically I am the stand in leader for my team. Till then, I think I can stay on as I think it is a good opportunity for me to do/learn more things. But the current situation is I have a new team leader and a new team member. The headcount is more than enough and some days, I just kept on thinking of what to do and I do not like doing nothing in office.

So, I hinted to move to another team but was hinted back to stay put till the new team leader is settled. So, I now try to teach things that I am doing and hand over to them. Resulting in lesser work for me and it feels weird to be free in office. Maybe I need a new challenge? I should consider my options and see how it goes after I receive my AWS in Jan.

You are the "Red Fruit" of my eye

Ok, I have to admit I didn't watch the show when it was released 1-2 years ago when everyone was talking about it. Just yesterday, I finally caught the show and I thought it was really nice. No wonder it gained so much attention when it was first released.

Feel like reading the novel as well. Maybe I'll just head to the library and see if I can find the novel over there. :)

The negative side of Social Media

I remembered clearly that long ago, I posted an entry (I think I'm the first few to realise this problem and recently this issue was quite a topic in FB) about friends using their iPhone during gathering and that it is ironic as it takes away the communication that it is supposed to offer. (I'll try to find my old post)

Today, I read an article about the effects of Social Media on individual person. Basically, it says that a person will get emo if he/she sees his friends perfect life in FB. That emo-ness is a problem as it makes one feels worthless, not loved and lower his confidence and more. True, it seems and I shall attempt to reduce my FB from now on.

A worth thinking point is the friend who posted the "perfect" photo, the photo shows a group of smiling friends, standing close together and seems to be having the time of their life. However, is that the case? After the photo, will they return back to their smart phone? Or will they continue as the photos showed, smiling and laughing away. This, we will have no idea about. Posting photo and sharing them with your friends is a great way to inform and tell people about your life and what you are up to recently and reader has to adjust their mindset and be contented with what they now have (Not easy). *

*My ending is bad because I do not know how to proceed on but you got the idea right? Haha.

AhBoi2Male Movie

After watching the movie, inevitably I think back of my own Bmt life. Looking through past photos and seeing old friends, I wonder where are they now and what are they doing? A pity that we didn't managed to stay in contact after Bmt.

About NZ again.

A friend of mine just returned from NZ and posted on facebook, her bad experience with trip. Apparently, she went with a famous tour agency and there are many things that are not handled and coordinated properly. Thankfully, I didn't experience it and it enforces my thinking of not travelling with an agency (if possible). Feel like trying out a solo travel but not so soon, maybe next year?
